We were cooking with a friend who I’m currently visiting. she was nice in this dream but normally she is self absorbed, treats me really badly and has traits of Narcissistic personality disorder however in this dream she was nice, I was sharing my home countries recipes with her - and we found that the marine people in ports cook the same food to recover from long boat trips. Which is my mums receipie. Rice baked with fruit. Then i was in a sitting room which had a swimming pool in the middle of it, and there was a dog which was walking on the ceiling. My best friend Brad was there and a second best friend Anja was there. Those two friends really care for me. And have been supporting me endlessly on this trip. But in this dream Anja suddenly said things about me that I was a narcissist. I got very upset. And asked her to leave. I sufdenly realised i’m in my chilshood home. I dragged her down the stairs. But inside I felt bad as it all was my fault and I was loosing a friend. I told brad what she said and her for the first time really went and told her off for saying horrible things to me. Anja then came back upstairs and we were arguing… inside i felt a really bad loss and as If I’m the one at fault
Dreams often act as a mirror, reflecting our subconscious thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Your dream is rich with symbolic elements that express your current emotional landscape and your relationships with the people in your life. Let’s break it down to understand its meanings more deeply.
Cooking with Your Friend: The act of cooking often represents sharing, nurturing, and creativity. In this dream, you are preparing food with a friend who typically embodies narcissistic traits. This contrast indicates a desire for connection and warmth, as well as an exploration of shared experiences. The recipe being linked to your mother’s cooking suggests a deep-rooted need for comfort, nostalgia, and familial ties. The realization that marine people cook similar dishes after long trips hints at a universal connection to food and recovery, symbolizing resilience and the importance of cultural heritage.
The Sitting Room with a Pool: Swimming pools often symbolize emotions and the subconscious. They can represent depth, relaxation, or sometimes even confusion. The pool positioned in a sitting room could symbolize a blending of personal space and emotional depth—perhaps indicating that your inner emotions are encroaching upon your everyday life. This setting suggests that you are navigating your emotions in a context where you normally feel comfortable.
The Dog on the Ceiling: A dog in dreams often symbolizes loyalty and companionship. However, a dog walking on the ceiling is an unusual image that may suggest feelings of instability in relationships, especially since it’s in a place that should feel secure. This could indicate that there are aspects of your friendships that feel topsy-turvy or ungrounded, reflecting your fears about betrayal or misunderstanding.
Anja's Accusation: The accusation from your friend Anja that you are a narcissist is particularly telling. It suggests deep-seated insecurities about how you view yourself and how you believe others perceive you. Such claims might amplify your fear of losing valuable relationships. Your immediate emotional reaction—upset and defensive—highlights your concerns about being misunderstood or misrepresented. By dragging her down the stairs, you might be expressing pent-up frustration and a sense of urgency to address what feels like an existential threat to your relationships.
Conflict with Anja and Support from Brad: Brad’s support indicates the importance of having reliable allies in your life. His defense of you juxtaposed with your confrontational dynamic with Anja reflects inner turmoil. This highlights a struggle between wanting validation and fearing rejection. It’s significant that you internally feel responsible for the conflict, pointing to possible feelings of guilt or inadequacy regarding your relationships.
Overall Interpretation: Your dream encapsulates a sensitive exploration of friendships, identity, and personal history. On one level, it suggests a desire for acceptance and validation, especially in light of challenging dynamics with people around you. The conflict with Anja may represent an internal struggle, where you grapple with feelings of worth and the fear that others may not see you as you truly are. The swimming pool could symbolize the depths of your emotions that you are trying to navigate, while the home signifies your need for familiarity and safety.
In summary, this dream may be a call to reflect on your relationships, particularly where you feel judged or misunderstood. It encourages you to traverse your emotional landscape and highlights the need for open communication. Embrace the support from those who truly care for you, and take time to explore and affirm your self-worth away from the voices of critique.
